Hi everyone,
This month I built my first gaming pc (with the help of some more experienced friends than me).

Specs:
  • CPU: Amd ryzen 5 5600X
  • Heatsink: Scythe Fuma 2
  • Motherboard: Asus TUF b550 plus (+ wifi)
  • PSU: Seasonic Focus GX-650
  • RAM: Crucial Ballistix BL2K8G36C16U4R 3600 MHz
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6Gb (reused from my old PC)
  • SSD: Hitachi HFS512G32MND-3210A (reused from my old PC)
  • Case: Antec DF700
  • Monitor: Monster Aryond 32'' QHD
When I can, I want to upgrade the GPU but I don't know how to orient myself because if I understand correctly a 3060Ti or 3070 require at least 750W or 850W power supplies.

I took the 650W because:
  1. it was highly recommended in terms of quality
  2. going up the wattage would have gone over my current budget
So I ask you:

Which upgrade (of the GPU) for 144Hz QHD do you recommend in order to respect the wattage of my system?

Solution
Firstly 650 watts is enough, way more than enough.
As for the GPU I personally recommend the 3060Ti. It should be a hundred bucks less than the 3070 but performs pretty similar.

Solution
Nvidia recommends a 650 watt power supply for the RTX 3070, so you're fine as far as your PSU is concerned.

As far as 3060 Ti vs 3070 goes, officially the price difference between the two makes people say that the 3060 Ti is the better buy, but the GPU market is super inflated right now and all over the place so the value proposition for these cards will depend on how much they cost in your area.

Also, keep in mind that while the 3060 Ti is a very capable 1440p card, that doesn't make it a capable 1440p 144 fps card unless you turn down a lot of graphical settings (in most newer games at least); 1440p + 144 Hz + high quality settings is more the domain of the RTX 3080. So if you want 1440p 144 Hz with better quality settings, the 15%ish increase in graphical processing power of the RTX 3070 over the 3060 Ti seems well worth it in my opinion.
