Ok, when building a deck in which you want some mana acceleration,
under what conditions would you add Wayfarer's Bauble and under what
condtions would you add a Myr?

The Bauble is better if you want to be able to choose what kind of land
you are getting, like in sunburst or domain decks that want to get whatever
kind of land they don't have already. Also it could be better if you have
something like Auriok Salvagers that can repeatedly retrieve the Bauble for
reuse. If I only have one or two colors in my deck, though, I'd rather have
the myr, for chump blocking if nothing else, barring worries about creature
sweepers.

I find the Bauble a little slow for my liking. Turn 1: Bauble. Turn
2: Pop the Bauble. Turn three, my board is empty, but I've got an
extra land.

I suppose it'd be good for thinning the deck in a Cogs deck, but it
still seems pricy. I almost always wish I had something else.

I go for the Bauble in off-color decks, and a tailisman in decks that
will be able to use both colors from them.

I like the Wayfayer's Bauble due to the simple fact it helps me pull
the color land I may need. I actually prefer talismans over either
Myrs or Wayfarers.

Here's some thoughts I haven't seen mentioned:

If my creature-control is global (e.g., Pyroclasm, Wrath of God), then I
don't use Myr.

If I have a heavy creature base already, and *especially* if I'm using
"pumpers" (equipment, etc.), then Myr are welcome. Sometimes, a little
1/1 carrying a sword can be a BIG threat ...

But there are other mana accelerators that haven't been mentioned:
noteably Star Compass. These are *almost* as good as a Talisman (PRO:
They provide colored mana without damaging you; CON: they come into play
tapped, and you still have to have the basic lands in play to make them
work) for non-allied color decks. So if you're heavy with things like
Urzalands, Cloudposts, and Temples of the False God, then don't use the
Compass.

I think the Bauble gets a slight edge in the current Standard
environment, if only because U/W (which so desperately needs mana
acceleration in the first place) has Trinket Mage, Auriok Salvagers, and
Leonine Squire, not to mention various ways to get artifacts out of the
graveyard for re-use. In a U/W deck using Wrath to clear the board, I
would consider 4 Baubles and 2-4 Compasses.

If you are playing a deck that wins via card advantage (ie u/w
control, monoblack control) then you should probably use the bauble.
If you're trying to win via tempo you should probably use the myr (or
better a talisman).
