Wayland works great
(arguably best) w/Intel iGPUs. Where you have to be careful with GPUs and Wayland is in the discreet sector, specifically with nVidia, which is to be avoided at all costs. You would be better off w/a Intel ARC discreet GPU than any nVidia. Last I checked, Intel was still one of the biggest commercial contributors to the Linux Kernel and w/iris you're golden.
If you do have an issue w/HiDPI stuff on Wayland look at scaling GTK/QT/Electron. I don't know what DE/WM you plan on using, but the
SWAY Wiki will likely be helpful.
