So i am getting a warning when looking at the SMART values in Aida 64 under the data section it lists a value of 8. that was my old OS drive and i have moved to a SSD. i did not have aida 64 at the time but before formatting it seemed like everything was fine.

Furthermore, with the Western Digital Data Lifeguard software, i did an extended test and i got a passing result.

While reading on threads i have read about "zero fill" as well as remapping. not sure how to perform these and if it will help. Also since there are different reports i want to know which one is correct.

Are there any good free programs i can try to cross reference this and is there a fix since it seems like the bad sector count is relatively low

Please let me know what i should do as the drive is only 2 years old and has not been heavily used.

Just because the drive is only 2 years old does not mean it can't fail.

Does is actually work OK? If it's 2 years old it may be in warranty, many drives have a 3 year warranty, contact WD support.

If you run a disk check with "check and fix errors" options it should mark bad areas as bad and avoid them. Won't actually fix the drive though if it's going bad or has bad sections.

Hi, i know that age does not necessarily mean it's worn.

I used Crystal disk info and had the same result of the Aida 64. I Ended up running WD's Data Lifeguard software and then the drive was completely fine in both aida 64 and crystal info.

I just upgraded to an ssd, decided to go with a afresh install. and the WD drive had the old partition. Maybe it just did not format properly the first time.

Everything works now, thanks for the input!
