WD 3TB Hard Drive Not Showing Up On My Computer

Hello, i have an HP Pavilion a532n computer running Windows 7 Professional with an Intel Pentium 4 3.40 Ghz processor and what's going on is that when i turn on my computer. The computer reads my dvd-rom but not my hard drive. What's going on?

I can't do that because my hard drive doesn't show up when i turn on the computer, like i said. It only reads the dvd-rom, not the hard drive.

Does this system, support UEFI??

Because I think it has to, to support hdd's bigger than 2.1 / 2.2 GB. And the hdd would have to be formatted in GPT

And whats the main hdd, if the 3 TB doesnt work?

You maybe able to see it / format it in disk management If it's new.

But unless it's formatted in GPT, you wont be able to use all of the 3 TB

Look in disk management, see if it's got a letter. If it doesnt have one, give it one

I think the motherboard is too old to be able to read a 3TB drive.

I doubt HP released an update that allowed the motherboard in that particular computer to support a 3TB drive.

Get a more recent mobo that supports UEFI

If you want to use a 3 TB hdd. As above

Paul, i forgot to tell you that everytime i start up my computer. It says "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key". What can i do to fix this?

Or update your system to one that 's got an UEFI BIOS.

Which will support 3+ TB hdds

But you may have to buy another version of windows if you do

Can i unplug my computer for several seconds and plug it back in to see if that helps?

Why can't you understand that the 3TB hard drive probably is incompatible with your system?

Unplugging the computer is not going to fix that.

I just thought about it, what are you even trying to do.

Why are you booting with ONLY the 3TB drive when you (presumably) have another hard drive with Windows on it?
