Hello i have this PC:

PowerSupply: Seasonic Energy Knight SS-500ET 500W OEM
MainBoard: Gigabyte GA-770TA-UD3 (rev. 1.0) (F3 Bios)
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T
RAM1: ADATA XPG Plus Series 4GB (kit 2x 2GB) 1600+ MHz
RAM2: DIMM DDR3 8GB 1600MHz ADATA (Kit 2x4GB) XPG Gaming Series
HDD2 (data):Samsung SpinPoint F3 3.5" 1TB HD103SJ
HDD1 (System): Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB (SV300S37A/120G)
GPU: Gigabyte GTX460 1GB DDR5 GV-N460OC-1GI
DVDROM: Samsung SH-S223C černá, OEM

And i want to buy myself a disk Western Digital 3 TB RED or Western Digital 3 TB GREEN

What do you think, RED or a GREEN version? I will use it in my main PC (windows 7 64bit) as another data disc, dedicated for large files and probably it will soon serve as a normal data disk, when my current gets full; that means i will be storing there also 3D and 2D graphics assets like textures,3D models, frame renders for videos compositing etc. (im doing into graphic design). I would also like this new disc to by able to connect to my new PC which i will be buying in 3 years.

So what would you recomend to me? RED or GREEN version of Western Digital?

Thank you for your advice 🙂!

Hi there thomas81br,

As MeteorsRainings already mentioned WD RED is a NAS designed drive. The WD Green has power efficient characteristics(that's why it runs quiet) and it is designed for secondary storage. If you need the drive for only storing data, both drives will fit your needs.
If you intend to run some graphic design programs off of it, I would recommend you the WD Black(as WD Blue which will be fine too does not offer capacities of 3TB).
Anyways, I would recommend you to run your heaviest and most demanding programs on your SSD. It will be also a good idea to wait and gather some more opinions from the other users too.

Hope this will help,
