There seems to be some confusion/misinformation regarding the WD black 1 TB hard drives.

What is the best choice between the WD1002FAEX & WD1003FZEX hard drives? Some say the 1003 is basically a rebadged blue drive.
I'm going to use a samsung 840 pro SSD for my windows installation and will mostly use this computer trading stocks and not much else.

I like the WD 5 year warranty but I am open to other suggestions.

Appreciate your feedback.

Yes I read that article but there are other conflicting test results

Why do you feel the red would be better in my situation?

Thanks

WD1003FZEX is the latest black HDD from WD. Supposed to be a step or two above the WD1002FAEX. Has some newer technology, can't remember the specifics at the moment. I have a WD1003FZEX hdd and it was kind of a pain to get it transformed into a MBR partition. The drive I got was a GPT partition. Afterwards it has been great. Used Acronis Disk Director to make it a logical drive.

I think the Red is a better value and the design should provide a more stable (*longer lasting, we'll get back to that) data resource.

*Longer lasting... according to WD here http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=810 their target performance is 1,000,000 hrs (~100 years) for MTBF yet the warranty is less than that of the WD Black (I can't figure that unless they're taking the intended usage - NAS - into account... still... hmm)
