Question Wd black m. 2 ssd Sata vs wb black hdd sata worth the upgrade?

I currently have a machine that uses a wd black 2tb sata mechanical hard disk as a storage volume .

It's mostly used to store digital art that I'm doing, but also some moderate gaming. The OS and software is on a smaller, faster, pcie nvme ssd.

Is it worth upgrading it to a wd black m. 2 sata ssd, as I have a spare slot for one on my mb?

Or should I save my money for something else?

Yes.
Everything you do with that drive will feel much snappier than from the HDD.

Loading game levels, interacting with your artwork, etc, etc.

Check if your motherboard supports two NVME drives.

Agreed.
Replacing a HDD with a ssd, of any kind will be a noticeable improvement.
Probably a m.2 pcie device will cost no more than a m.2 sata or a 2.5" sata ssd.

My mistake, I was thinking of another disc not the black.

It's a aorus gaming ultra x470, one pcie and one sata. The pcie is occupied already.

Both slots support pcie.
You want the the OS disk in slot m2a.
Use m2b for other stuff.
