I'm looking for a 1Tb secondary drive for my PC which will be used for games and local storage (I have my Win10 and apps on a 240Gb Samsung 850 evo SSD and I also run a 3TB WD Red-based NAS for media storage/sharing and other backups, so 1Tb in the PC itself is enough for me I think).

Here in the UK the prices are (Amazon)

1Tb WD Black WD1003FZEX £58
1Tb WD Blue WD10EZEX £40

So is the Black worth almost 50% more?

Is there any more to it than a longer warranty and slightly better performance (with more noise) which I'll rarely see in the real world?

I've never used either, my current secondary drive is a 500Gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 from 2011, so any advice from those who have experience of both of those would be most welcome :)

Thanks for the answer SS, I don't have any special requirements for it like it's mounted on it's side, or it's next to my ear, or I'm carelessly moving the PC around every five minutes, so Blue it is. And thanks ChumP, the reliability of the Black was what might sway me but if the Blue dies one day after the 3 year warranty runs out I'll already have half the money for a new Blue in the bank. For me, it's 50/50.
