WD Black WD1002FAEX Noise

Ever since I bought my HDD 2 years ago it has been making a strange noise when under load and recently even when idle. https://gyazo.com/4b0a278da65a188c830f1deab48fd5be and https://gyazo.com/53b466513dcad41adbdba304ae9cc884 are the diagnostic tools I used. It also passed the Data Lifeguard test.

It passing SMART is a good sign but change in noise isn't good, keep an eye on it and I'd say as HDD are cheap buy another and move all data over keeping this one as a secondary drive for non important data.

According to these specs the drive's healthy. However, @Spat is right that noises (clicking noises in particular) are not a good sign. I'd advise you to backup your data from the WD Black somewhere else as well and then check this article from our knowledge base to determine whether or not these strange noises you hear are normal. The noises could also be coming from improper mounting of the drive inside the PC, a loose screw could easily cause extra vibrations, so you should definitely check what's going on inside the PC case.

Either way, having a duplicate of the files stored on the WD Black is the surest way to avoid any potential data loss!
