Solution
It's great you've sorted this out. It will not hurt to test the drive with the DLG tool though.

As for the new drive, I can't really recommend you another HDD manufacturer except for WD, as I am a representative. In case you decide to go with WD once again, then I believe you can take a look at WD Black. It is a performance oriented drive, that features a dual core processor and has 5 years or limited warranty.

Edit: I was a little late. I see that you've updated your reply on the tests.

Hi there jmpatag1,

Sorry that you are facing some issues with your WD drive. :(

The first thing you really need to do is to back up the important data stored on the drive. Sometimes the drive is accessible and working just fine right?

After that, as this could be connection related issue, it may be a good idea to attach the drive with different cables(both SATA and power ones) to another SATA port.
Another thing you can do is to test it with WD's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool(both short and extended tests): http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=yNzGtg

Is the drive under warranty?

Let me know how this goes,
D_Know_WD :)
