Good day, i just want to find out if it is normal for the disk to make a kind of "rotating noise" like a motor spinning. it is a little loud but there are no problems besides that.

Thanks for all response in advance.

Solution
It looks like that case has trays or sleds for the drive with a spot for 2 screws, one per side.

You can try it to see if it helps.

Worst case at least you know it does not seem to be a drive issue.

If you only have one drive and the sound drives you nuts you may also be able to use the included 5.25 -> 3.5 adapter to mount it up with the optical drives. You would still need to screw the drive into that adapter and then the adapter into the case so it is more work.

Hard drives make noise for several reasons.

1. They have a motor turning a platter(or set of platters) at 7200rpm on most mid/high performance units.
2. The read heads move very fast back and forth just above the platters. Some drives will park heads when not in use. this makes a click/clunk noise on the load or unload.

This is not to say defects happen, if it is much louder than other drives, it may be an issue. Some drives are loud when they first spin-up, it has not been an issue in any I have used that did that.

Good day, Ted1234!

This is rather unusual for WD Blue drives.
I'd suggest to check out this link and evaluate if this clicking noise is normal or abnormal:

Is the noise coming only when you write data on the drive or is it constantly making this 'rotating noise'?
I'd recommend to back up your files from the HDD just in case and test it with WD's diagnostics tool - Data LifeGuard:

Keep me posted with the results and evaluation!
Hope this helped. :)

Thank you for the quick response i was a little busy for the week and now got some time to test it. The drive passed the test. I have notice if i hold the slot that the dive is in it wouldn't make any noise. Its caused by vibrations.

What case are you running it in.

If you have the place, make sure all 4 screws are installed and tight(not too tight since they can actually break). Some cases even have space for 6 screws(this coming from the person who uses all 8 screws on optical drives).

If the case has anti vibration mounts with rubber and sliding trays, try another slot since some are tighter than others and may reduce the vibrations.

I have a MK-1 Chaser, i dont have any screws to-be-honest, i just used the clips that came with the tray and well it locks in place after. Should i screw it down?
