I want to buy a new WD 6TB to save my data (Video, Photo Documents) and I am between WD Blue vs WD Red. What are the differences between them?
Which one do you suggest I buy?
Of the WDs, Gold, RED and RED Pro are the most reliable, most frequently those (Green and Blue) dies out of all WDs whom designed for office work (just 8 hours a day, only with few on / offs), with Purple falling between the former two groups.
Pay attention to avoid SMR drives, because they tend to be much slower than CMR/PMR drives in certain circumstances!
blue 6TB is slow, 5400rpm but its fine for backups
red 6TB is faster, its ment for NAS and raid, u can do backups on those aswell, its just a bit waste of money for storing few files here and there (sleeper drive), red is for 24/7 eviroment
