[SOLVED] WD Blue slow read and noise

Weird problem. WD Blue 1tb (wd10ezex) started reading most files very slowly and also generating noise. Speeds fluctuate 40-60MB/s when transfering a video file from WD to SSD. Interestingly, other files transfer at steady 140MB/s, which is normal speed for this drive, AND when speeds are normal, the drive does not generate any noise.
What could be the problem? Is my hard drive dying?

I think it might be. ....to the point where I would get anything off of it I valued...and I would be ordering a new one.

False alarm. Turns out the disk was simply very fragmented. I ran defragmentation and everything works great now.
