The price is close here in my country, the WD black 1TB is 3920 and the Seagate 2TB is 4160. Which one should I get in terms of reliability and performace?

Solution

I have never had a WD Black fail on me. Plus it has the longer warranty period in your country. I would go with the WD Black.

2 years for the seagate, 3 years for the wd

I thought all WD Black had 5 year warranty. ? . I think you gotta ask yourself if you need 2TB too. The difference in speed isn't noticable if it is for day to day stuff. The only advantage to extra speed is when you do a lot of large file work. I say this as an owner of WD Black and WD Blue. I will stick with Blue for the future but I like the long Black warranty too.

I have a WD Black 2Tb and Seagate 3Tb. The actual bandwidth on transfer speeds is nominal. The seek time on the WD black is a little faster but not noticeably. The main thing is the WD Black drive is soooo loud. Whereas the Barracuda I rarely notice.
Warranty as the guys say above is important. However in my experience if a drive is going to fail its in the first year. After that I have never had a drive fail on me. The two I had that failed did it in the first 6 months. The two I mentioned are at 3Years(ish) now and I have other drives that are older. I guess one I have is 10 years old now and still going strong.
Personally I would go for the best drive in terms of Gb/£$# with a minimum 2 Years Warranty

I will use my pc for gaming, editing, and rendering.

As mentioned by Dark antz1. I can hear my Black spinning but can't hear my Blue. It is slightly noisier. And yes, my experience is that a drive will fail in first 6 months if it will fail. In future I will stick to Blue.

Recommendation. Buy the Barracuda HDD.
