XFA24 :
I was looking into buying a 1TB western digital hard drive but i cant decide between the caviar blue and the caviar black which I will use for the next 5+ years
what is the difference between these two? in terms of loading duration and gaming experience
there is a huge price gap between these two and I would like to know what is recommended by most people
-thanks in advance!
Neither. ~ What you want is "Seagate SSHD". The Hybrid Solid State is faster than any platter.
Yet Platters are easier to recover data from than Solid State Drives. = Better for archive.
Seagate = if it is a platter it runs cooler, last longer, is quieter, when it is the fluid dynamic bearing of a Seagate.
Toshiba OCZ = for anything solid state drive SSD. Toshiba and OCZ prize stability performance and RELIABILITY.
(I own both products as well as other brands. My Patriot SSD was stolen, but I feel my OCZ replacement is better.)
(Intel is shady, shady. Because of their volume sales that they can offer a longer warranty on the box, but the reality is that many of their solid state drives will and do fail in a few years = so no matter the brand if it is solid state (SSD) then use RAID, and Samsung is the fastest with its 3D circuits, but failure rates or lifetime are not yet established.)
Never abandon the platter drives. Seagate makes the best.
If you ever consider SSD, Invest in RAID Arrays with platter backup drives.
Currently I have bought two large SSD, from two different makers. Both are used as USB drives.
Hybrid HDD are by far the best solution the market had. They can be recovered from and you family photos restored.
Just before Toshiba bought OCZ, I was about to buy a Synapse SSD from them. 8GB to 60(64GB) is the ideal range.
RAM should be 8GB to 16GB before putting money into SSD. AMD RAM Drive is much faster than SSD.
