hi
recently, my friends wd cloud started acting funny it would connect then disconnect over and over again. So I opened it up and installed the hard drive in my PC. then when I tried to access it I was greeted by h:\ is not accessible the volume does not contain a recognised file system.
Any ideas ?
it's a 2tb wd green and it is split into two partitions. When i look at the properties it says 0 bytes total.
thanks i would really appreciate some help!

Hey there, @Paddy Davison!

I'm sorry to hear about your connectivity issues with the WD My Cloud. 🙁 Unfortunately, taking the internal drive out has voided the warranty and due to the fact that NAS systems use a different file system, you won't be able to easily access it through Windows OS as you might have figured from the error you received.
You could definitely try to access it through a Linux Live CD from your desktop, just like @Emerald mentioned, though.
I'd also suggest you try putting the HDD back in the WD My Cloud and checking through the dashboard if your WD My Cloud firmware is up-to-date.

You should also try resolving the issue by setting a Static IP address on the NAS.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted with the troubleshooting!
