WD color code

Solution
They don't make WD blacks in 8TB...
It could only be a Red, Purple, or Gold (Used to be enterprise)
If it were a Gold it would be obvious. Purple just isn't super common. I would bet the farm on it being Red.

Whether it is a Red or a Purple - it is going to be a perfect fit for expanding your NAS.

WD white labels are becoming a lot more common and popular.
It has a white label because WD will no longer consider it to meet spec for their lines.
That said, it is either a Red or a Purple. That is all they make in 8TB. Well they make Gold but i doubt it is a Gold.

Both the Purple and the red are 5400 RPM 128MB and have many of the same features.

It is probably a Red.

Hm. That seems to be an HGST drive, WD in name only? It looks like a good drive based on specs. The motor is dialed down to 5400RPM but it looks like it runs on par with WD Blacks? Pretty intersting. As far as i can tell it doesn't fall under any of the WD colors.
