WD Elements WDBABV0010BBK-00 replacement due to fault

Hello,
my WD Elements WDBABV0010BBK-00 external 1 TB hardrive is coming up in printers and devices but not letting me access it or giving me a drive letter, etc, E:, so i tried to troubleshoot it with my toshiba laptop running win7 pro and it says that my device is disabled in windows and asks id i'd like to enable and when i select yes it says windows was unable to enable this device, was working fine since new?? any1 please help.....

have you tried booting of a Linux Live CD and see if it is accessible in Linux?
