Recently my old Seagate 500gb Drive started to act strange and would take sometimes 30 minutes to boot, but then stopped booting at all. So I decided to get another drive, so I got a WD Green that was previously used on a iMac and installed windows 7. Everything was working fine the last week or so.

But today while I was using my computer I experienced some crazy slowdowns, so I decided to reboot my computer. Only problem is that it boots extremely slow and once the Windows 7 loading screen goes away it just goes to a black screen with a cursor. I tried booting in safe mode, but it was taking a long time loading that too, it took around 5 seconds to load each thing and then it just stopped. Right now I am running the startup repair but it doesn't seem like it's doing anything. It just gets stuck at "Attempting Repairs...".

Motherboard : P8H 61MX
Processor : i5 2320

I would really appreciate some help.

Pretty sure i sounds like both cases it is a failing hard drive.

I would just buy a new hard drive. If you either 1) Get into windows or 2) Have another windows machine you can toss the drives in download and install the Crystal Disk Info in my signature. I'm pretty sure those drives will come up as Caution or Bad

Hey there, m8m8m8!

I'm very sorry to hear about issues with the WD Green drive. 🙁
I strongly recommend to test it using WD's diagnostics tool - Data LifeGuard. It will let you know what is the drive's health and S.M.A.R.T. status. Make sure you run the quick and the extended test in the tool. Here's a link: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=xzalVe

If there are too many errors displayed in the tool, then I'd suggest to contact our tech support and let them know. Your WD Green drive is rather new, so it should still be covered by the warranty. This means that you can send out an RMA request and get a replacement.
