Computer is stuck on Bios screen
This happened when I was playing GTA V

The video is set to private so I cannot access it but from the description you gave it sounds like the drive has failed and is stalling the POST process. You can test this by disconnecting the drive then powering on and seeing if it makes it past the BIOS POST screen. If it does it will say no boot device found but if it gets past it with the HDD disconnected then that means the drive is bad.

I have a laptop HDD that makes the same noise to start the will sound normal but is no longer readable by any system no matter what I do.

It is possible that the heads reset to their proper position back in June and started working again but that sound is something you never want to hear from a HDD. Rapid clicking is fine as some HDDs have a part that stops the arm from moving too far but that sound is pretty common on failing or bad drives.

Up to you but I suggest a new HDD. Then you can try to recover data but lets also look at the fact that the system is stuck at the POST splash screen, that' another sign. If a drive is failing or bad it can stall POST.

Generally hdd's die slowly. Unless they're dropped or get wet, they rarely fail suddenly. The noises you heard back in June where warning signs that the drive began dying. Use a live CD or connect the drive into another system or HD enclosure and pray that the drive is readable. Attempt to recover the data by copying it to another drive

Hey there, ganudvd!

I'm really sorry to hear about your failed WD Green drive! 🙁 This seems very unfortunate and it really does sound bad! I'd recommend you to check your warranty status and get in touch with our customer support. If the HDD is still covered by the warranty, you are eligible to get a replacement from us, once you send your RMA request.
