Hi,

I recently bought a Crucial 500gb SSD and (using Acronis TrueImage) cloned my existing HDD to it. I changed the boot order and can boot from the SSD fine.

My issue is that I wanted to use the old HDD (WD Green 2TB) as a Data drive, so I formatted it and everything seemed to be fine, until my PC locked up and I hard to hard reset it.

This issue keeps happening (within 15-20 minutes of booting up) when I have the HDD plugged in, it does NOT happen with it out. Windows 10 becomes unresponsive and the cursor just spins.

PC specs:
AMD A6-3670K
NVidia GTX 960
2x4gb ram
Crucial 500gb ssd
WD Green 2TB hdd
Corsair TX550M psu

Any ideas?

I tried plugging in to different ports but got the same issue.
The HDD is still using the same SATA cable (but that was my OS drive the day before with no issues)

Hey there, Davie!

I'm truly sorry to hear about your issues with the WD Green drive. 🙁 I'd recommend you to test the drive using WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics and check up on the health and SMART status. You should run both - the quick and the extended test from the software here: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=Xps43M
I'd still try to find a different SATA cable to connect the HDD with. Moreover, if you have access to a different computer, I'd suggest you to try plugging the WD Green there as well and see how the other system will react to it.

Hope it helps. Keep us posted!
