WD Green in NAS?

I wouldn't use Green drives in anything beyond a two-disk RAID-0 array. Find a disk with TLER support if you're going higher than that as you may have issues with dropped drives which can lead to corruption of the volume.

Hey there, bobmendon!

@leo2kp has a point, the WD Greens are not a good choice for 24/7-running environments like a network-attached storage.
These drives are designed for secondary storage solutions for your massive data or it's mostly used a backup drive (in an external enclosure).
When it comes to NAS systems, it's probably best to consider using WD Red HDD. It's specifically designed to withstand the workload and it also incorporates a specific firmware (a.k.a. as NASware 3.0). It basically optimizes the performance of the WD Red to deliver you a decent NAS experience. Here you can read more details about this HDD and choose the capacity that suits your needs: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=jUBUXK

Hope it helps. Keep us posted if you have more questions! :)
