I plan to buy a 2TB HD used. I thought about WD Green, but I know that they often break down because of IntelliPark. If I disable this feature the HD lasts longer? Has anyone tried to disable this function? How to know if the disk is already spoiled by IntelliPark?
Thank you

Why not just buy a drive without that feature.

Because the price difference is abissal. I think that only the WD Red do not have this function activated and I just like WD drives.

Yes it's true that the current WD do not last as long as the old ones. I have one with 12 years old and still rolling.....
The IntelliPark function reduces the life of the hard drive. I've read that some people have disabled the function. I wonder if anyone has had this experience.

I think only the Green has that feature.

Well...WD recently changed their labeling. 'Everything' is now 'Blue'
The 5400 is the old Green, the 7200RPM is the Blue, the 7200RPM in larger sizes is the Black.

There are a few links around on how to disable that:
