Every time after the computer goes to SLEEP or being shut down "My Passport Ultra 2-TB external Drive" disappears from the computer completely. I have to (1) restart the computer (after I just turned the computer on), (2) click on the WD Unlocker, (3) Choose not to scan the Passport Ultra. Then "Ultra 2-TB" would come back. It is a lot of trouble and time consuming to do it numerous times a day. I wonder if there is a setting to avoid all these hassles.

I have another external hard drive, the regular WD My passport 1-TB. I have used it for a long time. It has never failed and is very easy to use. It never disappears from the computer. Because I liked it so much that I bought WD MY Passport Ultra 2-TB. I am very disappointed with it. Hope someone can help me remedy the problem.

Hey, deerc!

I'm sorry to hear that you are disappointed with the WD My Passport Ultra! 🙁
This most probably happens because of the WD Security software. It locks the drive whenever you shut down the PC, disconnect the drive or the computer goes to sleep. It will require you to type the password to unlock the drive in any case, unless you've selected the Enable auto unlock for users (Check the box when you created your password.
