Question WD My Passport Ultra Brute-force the password or replicate the original hardware

Hi,
I have a WD HDD (My passport Ultra). I had set a password long back and I never had to use the password as the HDD recognizes my PC. Recently I added a new motherboard, Processor and GPU. And expected the WD drive is asking for password. I wanted to understand if there is any possibility to break the password or access my data? The only option I have got now is try input all know passwords 5 times and then it asks for format or disconnect. I disconnect and try again. I tried all possible passwords, it is not accepting. I have contacted WD and they are suggesting to contact local data recovery parties. I have tried connecting with one of them they did some analysis and diagnosed that it a physical failure (I highly doubt that) and they are asking 30K for data recovery. Long story short, I am not sure if data is recoverable or not. The company I have contacted does not give me any details on what are they a doing. Any suggestions are welcome.

Also, what are the chances if I replicate the hardware (I have the old HW as a new CPU). But OS is reinstalled in it.
