WD My passport ultra suddenly stopped working

Hi
i just plugged in my hard drive (1TB) to my laptop, and it isn't being recognized.
There's no error message, but the computer is recognizing the device (the light flicks on). When i plugged it to my desktop, it said the disk had to be formatted. I haven't plugged it anywhere but my laptop and desktop and i only bought the drive in late june. Please help!

I'm truly sorry to hear about your WD My Passport not being properly recognized! 🙁 I'd recommend you checking Disk Management in both your desktop and laptop and see how the external is showing there and if everything seems to be okay there. I'd also suggest you to test the drive's health and SMART status using WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics by running both the QUICK and EXTENDED test. I hope you don't have any important data stored there that isn't backed up yet.
