Hi,

I have a WD My Passport for Mac, but since recently for some reason it has not been connecting properly. It IS showing in Disk Utility, but not in Finder or on my desktop, and when I try to back up using Time Machine it says no hard drive is available. The light on the hard drive is flickering and it is making the same soft sound it usually does when it's working.

In Disk Utility I'm not able to repair it (not clickable) and when I try to eject it via Disk Utility I can't because it says the hard drive is currently in use.

I'm running iOS 10.10.2.

Does anyone know what I can do to make sure it's connecting properly again? I'm in the middle of essay season so really need to be able to make frequent back ups!

Thanks.

Hey there, zoeleigh07.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're having with your drive. If you're not able to click on repair it, try clicking on the bot verification process just to see if you're able to and hopefully find out if there are any errors. Other than that you should try the HDD with a different USB cable (prefarably shorter than 12"), to see if the same thing happens. Another option is to test the drive with a different computer if you have one available.
In the meantime, until you're able to check the drive for errors, I'd advise you not to use it as a backup for your work, if you're not sure that it's in a good condition.

Please let me know how everything goes.
