Hey guys, hope everyone is doing good.

quick question, just bought WD BLACK SN750, first time installing pci ssd, please take a look at the photo, is it ok for the ssd board to bend like this? seems like it will snap in two pieces, over the time. i unscrew this screw off my mainboard and use it to secure ssd, was i supposed to leave it underneath?

It looks like you screwed in your SSD to the mobo with the standoff

Is there 2 different screw when you want to install the SSD?
the motherboard should come with a standoff and a screw, so you put in the standoff first then the SSD on top of the stand off, and use the screw to hold the SSD to the standoff

hey man, thanks for reply. I guess this mainboard only comes with standoff, i gotta find tiny screw. This ssd was installed 7hr ago, do you think, is there possibility that its not going to perform as it should?( cuz maybe its damaged? ) the PC is on and everything seems working fine.

Well screwing your SSD like that wont break your Nvme SSD but it might stress the SSD overtime, its better if you install it on top of the Standoff as it would be level with the Slot and the motherboard

M.2 drive must stand parallel to board. Your board miss a standoff - get it.

Yes, the truth is that even mid level MOBOs may miss bundled standoffs for secondary M.2 drives (MSI, ahem).
looks like the screw is missing, so i got confused and secured ssd with standoff, and now i feel like i ruined the ssd module. How would u test it? with crystsaldiskinfo or performance test?

No performance test can repair physical hardware damage. If drive does not respond in other computer too, take it to repair service. Maybe they will be able to resurrect it. At next time in absence of proper standoff use temperature resistant plastic standoff or rectangular piece of temperature resistant plastic with a screw hole in middle at next time. And be careful because it is very easy to accidentally short something or chip off tiny SMD components from board.

thanks for reply, the ssd is now leveled and seem like working, i installed few games on this ssd, looks like no issue, did few tests and numbers are abt right. Lesson learned 😦
