WD Passport files not showing up on mac?

I have a WD Passport external hard drive and for some reason when I click on it the folders come up but when I click to go into them, I can't see any of the photos or files inside! I've never had issues with it before except the cord is a little temperamental and ejects itself very easily. Do you think this is a problem with the drive itself or the cord? Is the cord easy enough to replace on its own? If yes, am I able to order one online or where can it be purchased? My laptop is a macbook air.

I'm sorry to hear about your issues with the WD My Passport. Do you use the external on other computers as well? The cord should not eject easily or accidentally, because it might cause file system or data corruption if the HDD is in an active state. Let me know what happens when you click "Repair Disk" in the Disk Utility.
