I was using it with my MacBook Pro. I moved it slightly and then it read the disk was not removed properly. So I disconnected it and reconnected it so I could get back to work. It didn't show up on my finder as a drive. I open up disk utility and it's there but not under the name I had given it. Instead it reads disk2s2. It won't let me mount it. I've ran the verify and repair options, which usually work. Now the drive just blinks on and off while it's plugged in.

Solution
typical scenario for the "WD slow response" with overfilled R-list module. Usually caused by one of the failing heads. This video explains it all:
Welcome to the community, davarstephen!

I'm sorry to hear about your connectivity issues with the WD My Passport. 🙁 I'd advise you to try using a different USB cable when connecting the HDD to your MacBook and I'd also give another USB port a try. It's possible that something in the connection is faulty and not supplying the external with enough power for Disk Utility or your Mac to recognize it properly.
I'd also advise you plug the WD Passport in a different Mac OS X system and see how it will appear there. As soon as you can access the external, make sure you do a backup of all your files on it before proceeding with the troubleshooting.

Keep us posted.
