Hello Everyone, I am just new to the forum. I bought recently a WD Red and after inspecting it, it is making a ticking sound. So I unplugged it from my case and viola, noise is gone. I have a 2016 built, I recently made a full purchase through a store in Ontario, Canada. However, when I wanted to put back the cords/connectors, I didnt know which one was in. Which one has to be plugged into the Hard Drive (please tell me based on numbers).

Also, when I emailed the tech in the store, he emailed me back that my warranty through them is void now because I opened the case. I didn't even know. Can they deprive me of my warranty without me knowing that opening the case would void my warranty?

I am in a state of shock.

Please respond!

Yes sir, which cord should I connect to the Hard Drive. The ticking noise is a burden but I guess I have to live with it as the place apparently voided my warranty against my well.

Just to clarify things. The store that voided my warranty installed and compiled my system together, so the sata is connected to power and to mother board, its just these three plugs are not connected to the hard drive. So, which one of these three have to be connected into the Hard Drive?

THANKS.... SHOULD I CALL WD PEOPLE TO ADDRESS MY CONCERNS ABOUT THE SOUND?

with WD warrantee don't matter I sent in drives out of some prebuilt like a HP computer there warrantee is just on the drive and stars on its date of manufacture so it don't matter if you bought it or someone else or in a ready built rig its just a flat straight coverage on there drives

theres a deal at WD's site to fill out to se where you drive stands

this maybe it ? fill it in and send and they should reply on whats the drive has left on it or what ever

Ok thanks man!

but for the sata connections, which one of the three should be plugged in my hard drive, please reply now.

don't know what 3 your talking about ? not there to see them

should be just the 2 one from the psu to power the drive and one from the drive to the mother board for the data ???

from here the 3ed picture down is a data cable [one end can be at a right angle as well] the 4th picture is a power cable [the black on is sata the white is a molex ]

i'll assume you got a moderan sata drive and the black sata power connector is what you would use from the psu
