WD Red Pro is really loud

Solution
Hi there ShotTard,

Sorry that you are facing some issues with your WD drive. 🙁

Does the drive make any other unusual noises, except from the spinning one?

One thing you can do is to just test the drive with WD's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool(both short and extended tests), as iXeon has already suggested. If there's something wrong with the drive, my suggestion would be to back up the data stored on it.
Another thing you can try is to just re-seat the drive, attach it with different cables to another SATA port.

It's only when it's in use. But it's really loud, I can still hear it with headphones on.

None of my other drives make a sound (2TB and 4TB Seagate drives).

Thanks

it's alright, although if you concern about the drive health you could check it by the software that is in the Western digital HDDs by default .
the 6TB HDD has more disk layers in it then others because they put more capacity in the same 3.5 inch drive, so it's ok for those layers to make sounds like that when under use.

Hi, thanks to both of you.

I've run a short test with Lifeguard and it passed. I don't have time to run an extended test today, so I'll do that tomorrow and report back with the results.

Thanks
