USB3.0 HDD Intenso
(inside: WDC WD10JPVX-22JC3T0, 1TB, 2,5" )

When plugged in Windows 7/10 each system says it has to check the drive. After the test always minor issues found and repaired. Next day the same.

So I opened the intenso case and plugged the hdd via SATA in a Win 10 machine and installed the newest version of Data Lifeguard of Western Digital.
The hdd passed the extended test (4 h) with Data Lifeguard for Windows with no errors (zero).

I guessed it should be the SATA controller of the intenso case and baught a new one from UGreen, when I plugged it to my computer -windows says it must check the drive.

What is this. Does any one have an idea?

May be several things.

First off -when Windos repport, that is probably about a bad file system, that doesn't need to be caused by a malfunctional disk, but rather is often caused by the user that remove the usb connection without using "safe removal of hardware".

If the manufactorer tool does not detect errors, chance is that the drive is all good.

@Grobe I always remove hardware with windows removal tool or after shutdown.

After backup, I made a low level formatting of the hdd. I will see, whether this is the solution.

Ok - seems you have a good routine then.

Maybee - just maybee, the usb driver doesn't work properly and disconnects prematurely during shutdown of Windows.
Does the problem persist if you make it a habit to always log out first, then shut down?

Does the external drive behave that same way when used on other computers ?

@Grobe: As I wrote before: I made a low level formatting of the hdd. I hope the system won't bother any more after this. I'm testing the hdd now for 2 days and for now no issues have been reported.
