Here's the breakdown...
I'm an average computer user, but I'm building a pretty powerful desktop. I mainly use it for multimedia/surfing/moderate gaming (that will change when SC2/D3 come out).
This is what it looks like :
i7 920 /w TRUE hsf
EVGA GTX 295
Gigabyte UD4P x58
Corsair Dominator 1600mhz 8-8-8-24 6gb tri channel
Antec CP-850w
Antec P183
I currently have a Samsung Spinpoint F1 640gb, but I wanted my HD to match the power of my desktop as a whole. Will I see improvements if I go with a Raptor or go RAID 0?
If I went Raid 0 I would be going with 2xWD Caviar Black 640gb drives (roughly $70 per HD) : http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=34286&vpn=WD6401AALS&manufacture=Western%20Digital%20WD&promoid=1025
or a WD VRaptor ($250) http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=36681&promoid=1025 and have the Samsung Spinpoint as media storage, while raptor runs OS/programs.
Or should I look at SSD?
Kingston 64gb SSD for $135? http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=39759&promoid=1025
