Samsung 500GB 3.5" Spinpoint F3 HDD, 7200rpm, SATA II 3.0Gbs, 16MB Cache

VERSUS

Western Digital Caviar Black WD5001AALS - Hard drive - 500 GB - internal - 3.5" - SATA-300 - 7200 rpm - buffer: 32 MB

What one should I get? I've been hearing good things about the Samsung F3 but I've always been a fan of WD.

Value-wise, samsung would be better, but I'd go for WD... just me being stubborn/paranoid. I'm a Korean but strangely samsung drives don't seem to have good reputation for reliability in their homeland. They do sell well there, and their reputation is certainly not bad. But the general concensus seem to be that they aren't as reliable as WD/Seagate drives. But I guess the new generation samsungs should be reliable since they're really putting a lot of effort into hard drives these days... no more half-hearted attempts.

I will take that information into consideration. But after looking at benchmarks comparing the 2, I think I'll stick with the Samsung simply because of it's insane speed over the WD. If it fails I'll just buy another one, not entirely worried about anything I put on it, haha!

I've just looked at pricing on the SSD's. It's not gonna happen, cause I'm actually building/buying a new computer in a few days and a SSD would go way over my budget, I will definitely look into it in the future.
