Hello,
I have WD My passport ultra and was using it to backup and download data with my Macbook. Nowhere else. I accidentally disconnected it in the middle of a possible file transfer. When I connected it again, it said the disc cannot be repaired. When I tried to disconnect and connect again, it did not show up in the menu at all as if the disk was not connected. but the light is blinking, i can hear it working....

Is there a way to fix it? It was purchased at the end of 2014.
Is there a software for diagnosis that can run on OS x?
Thank you very much.

Welcome to the community, nomorewine!

I'm truly sorry to hear about your WD My Passport issues! 🙁 The interrupted file transfer might have damaged the drive or the file system of the drive. I hope you have a back up of the data stored on it, otherwise you'd need a professional data recovery company to retrieve it: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=7iq0uR

I'd recommend you to try testing the drive for defects using Mac OS X Disk Utility. Here's an article from our KB that explains how to access and troubleshoot with it: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=zGYijE

Give it a try and let me know how it goes!

Thank you very much. I tried the repair option first - did not work. Then I choose the verify disk option - worked like a charm. Phew... I didnt have a backup of some of the files there, better get a second disk or something 🙂.

Thanks again
