Hello,

I am wondering if anyone is able to ID what noise my hard drive is producing: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yDonubPSeDuB9scy_uIKKfafBc9ObVVA/view?usp=sharing

In hindsight I think it was displaying signs of dying when I was was converting video files, the program started to throw out errors that were not happening before. Figured it was a software issue. But the hard drive just suddenly stopped showing up in bios and makes that noise when plugged in (slows down the computer too).

Thanks in advanced, I have a feeling I will not be able to get this thing working long enough to get my data copied off.

Hello mharris1120, here is a link with HDD sounds. See if yours is listed. From the description you give as well as the audio, sounds like the drive is gone or about to go. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I am aware of that website, though it does not quite sound like anything there. Though with the same pace of movement, I am guessing it might be the head and not the spindle as I thought it might be.

mharris1120, another way to see how the HDD is doing is run Seatools on it. It will give you the health of the drive.

No, only if it appears in BIOS. Probably best to get in touch with support in this case.
