No, there are no fans spinnibg. There's no response of any sort when we press the button.
we have a:
H81M-C Motherboard
Intel Celeron
Kingston ValueRam 8gb UDIMM Unbuffered
Oh, and a WD Blue 1TB Harddrive

If you're using a Haswell refresh cpu the motherboard bios may not recognize it without an update.

Oh, and just to make sure of the obvious. The power button is plugged into the power header on the motherboard, right?

Yes, all the connections are in place and seem to be right

See if a fan connected to it does spin.

Thanks, we did what the video said to do. But the button on the case doesn't work

Then try starting the board by shortly touching with a screwdriver the 2 pins on the motherboard corresponding to the case power button.

Hi Alexoiu, thanks for all the advice you've been giving. We're going to try that in the morning when Stephen gets up. He's only 9 and needs to go to bed early. I know you have to be 13 to be registered here, so it's registered under my name (I'm Stephen's dad) and I'm responsible for him. This is the first computer he's built and he's very enthusiastic about it so I hope we can get it to switch on. He's done all the research. I haven't a clue about anything
