Dear Community,
We have 4 sites & each site has its WSUS Server.
We have one domain and have four Domain Controllers, 1 on each site.
We want to Migrate to windows11 OS from windows10 in our organization but we have few concerns:
  1. We have Wsus Servers Upgrade to Windows11 either through WSUS Directly or should we do the upgarde manually on individual machine manually by directly dowlading Updates from Microsoft Servers? What is the best option? And how should we proceed with it?
  2. How should we Separate out specific Systems and upgrade only those in case we do it through WSUS Server?Like what should be the criteria on selecting devices?
  3. What happens to the License Status & its activation If we Upgrade from Windows10 to Windows11 as we dont have nay windows 11 License. We only hahve windows Activation Keys?
4.What is the compatibility of Office 2013 & office 2016 with new Windows 11?
Looking forward to your Response.
Thanks.

We want to Migrate because we want to Benefit from Latest Features of Windows 11. We have planned ahead as our end devices/laptops cost has depreciated and we are planning to buy new hardware so we will have to move to Windows 11 sooner or later , also after 2 years Windows 10 will be end of support anyway. which is why we are planning to migrate to windows 11 by end of this year.

Are these systems fully Win 11 compatible?

What type of licenses do you have? Retail, Volume license agreement, something else?

What is your current backup situation?

Why the move to Win 11?

How many systems in total?

There is no Office compatibility issues I am aware of.

Q1. Are these systems fully Win 11 compatible?

Answer: We have some old some new laptops.
We will list down the laptops and confirm which can be upgraded to windows11 .
But I think we will also have to check If their latest drivers on hp sites(as we have 95 %HP Laptops)are windows11 supported as well apart from their hardware requirements.

Q2. What type of Licenses do you have? Retail, Volume license agreement, something else?

Answer: We have Windows 10 Pro Licenses. Also we have Office 2013 and 2015 for Outlook & office Appplications.

Q3. What is your current backup situation?

Answer: All system backup is Synced on onedrive except for downloads folder.

Q4. Why the move to Win 11?

Answer: We want to Migrate because we want to Benefit from Latest Features of Windows 11. We have planned ahead as our end devices/laptops cost has depreciated and we are planning to buy new hardware so we will have to move to Windows 11 sooner or later , also after 2 years Windows 10 will be end of support anyway. which is why we are planning to migrate to windows 11 by end of this year.

Q5.How many systems in total?

Answer: Around 80 laptops. But again some are new some are old. Some will be obsolete and we will buy new laptops after disposing them.

But my concern are below:

  1. We have Wsus Servers. In order to Upgrade to Windows11 how should we do it, through WSUS Directly or should we do the upgrade individual machines manually by directly downloading Updates from Microsoft Servers? What is the best option? And how should we proceed with it?
  2. Incase we go with wsus server, How should we Separate out specific Systems at wsus level so we can only upgrde thsoe specific machines ?Like what should be the criteria on selecting devices?
