I recently purchased a refurbished Asus Q502L, which has been working really well. I have had no problems with connectivity at all for the past month I've owned it until recently.
In my home, where everyone has a 50 mbps download speed or higher, my laptop doesn't reach more than 2 mbps and is very slow. All the drivers are updated and I have an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 network adapter.
Not also that I purchased an Alpha Network usb antenna in the hopes that it would improve the performance and it did not help, even though the driver for the antenna pics up a very good signal.
Has anyone else experienced something like this or now of anything of the sorts?
Obviously internet that slow when faster speeds could be achieved is unacceptable.
Thank you for any replies.

I had a similar experience with my Vostro 1400 laptop where it's wifi would drop after idling abit and the signal is weak while other devices had good signal. After I added a router the problem was gone and signal is always stable 54Mbps, no more dropped wifi. What is your router model? Have you tried changing your wifi channels, perhaps there's interference from where you connect the laptop.

Use program called inSSider (version 3 was free) and check which wifi channel is the best for You. There may be too many Wireless Networks on the same channel You are. You can change wifi channel in the router wifi settings.
