Im not too great with my ADOM Netiquette so I'll leave the reply as is.
Darkforge was a walkover after i found my Red DSM and a fireproof blanket.
Cleared it out for a bit more exp and the chance of some randomly amazing
weapon/armour to be generated.
What I really found strange is.... Molochs are a walkover. I kill Molochs
easier than Diamond Golems. I only faced a Greater Moloch at ~lvl 17 with my
Archer and that was fun. Had 2 slaying arrows and no demon slayers.
Berserked and abused my Blessed SLB's + quick/lightning shot to full
advantage but couldnt kill it. Came down to my last random stack of arrows
and it died in around 4 arrows. Confused, I picked up my arrows and they
were Humanoid Slayers. Couldnt remember Molochs being Humanoid but Im not
complaining. Another way to kill them i suppose. If I can break their PV,
they'll be easy. My Weaponsmith alternates between Blessed SLB's and highly
smithed Eternium Boots whenever I go toe-to-toe with evil melee things.
I dont think I have the Willpower for the Library thanks to a little visit
to the top of the bug temple. I always go there as my Archers for the extra
bit of speed. ~120 speed seems to keep me out of trouble even if it does
reduce exp. Ive learned how far I can go to avoid luring the Killer Bugs.
They are just insane. I was tempted to have some fun in Dwarven Halls but DH
was a walkover on the way down when for any of my Archers or Rangers, theres
always some random nasty such as a Shadow Wyrm, Ancient Dragon, Moloch etc.
This time, the worst I encountered was a Greater Water Elemental and he
rolled over quite pathetically to be honest. Unless you class a room full of
Ancient White Dragons, tucked away in a little corner a threat. Ancient
White Dragons die more easily than the 1 or 2 Red ones Ive killed thus far.
The Ancient Red I met was a lot more powerful than the Whites Id faced and
took me by suprise.
I have the Red, Black and White flavours of DSM although my Red DSM is the
strongest. Crowning netted me Hammerhead and Shock Immunity. If I had enough
shots of detect monster, I could be suited to take on any class of breather.
Overall, it seems that Im rather loved and hated by the RNG. My equipment
seems very good but my level for the point of the game Im at seems low.
Corruption seems to set in faster than the last time I played. Ive had to
cure roughly 8 corruptions thus far although I could be off the mark and
plus, Im slow. I love going to visit every place and do every thing that the
RNG seems to want me to do. I need to find the "Corruption = Off" switch.
A few points ive noticed that I maybe havent noticed in other versions....
Greater Molochs are Humanoid.
Poison really does seem to stack very fast. Quicklings, although they dont
hit me often in terms of how often they attack, they do get a few hits in
and that poison stacks up really fast.
(Greater) Mummies dont seem to be able to cause sickness when they attack.
Shopkeepers tend to have Charged Clothes in their shops when Im not using a
spell character. Case in point, Chaos Knight tension room gave me 6 sets of
EPM, the best DV/PV of which, was Charged.
Smithing could do wonders for a low level character if a forge and method of
getting ores is found early on.
Monsters dont seem to be worth their EXP in terms of how hard they are to
kill. Emperor Lich in CoC Graveyard seemed to be worth 17000 exp iirc. Suns
Messenger and fast arrows killed it before it moved but how hard can a
single Emperor Lich be? Berserker Emperor was around 3000-4000. Ive bumped
into a few before and been absolutely mutilated in seconds.
Final point. Why is only Stephen giving me advice? He hasnt steered me wrong
yet but I like diversity in replies
I rely heavily on opinions when Im stuck and I prefer not to be stuck with
only 1 option.
