If you bite with rabies and then weapon swap to a poison
enhancing gear it increases the damage further(read on strat
forum). This might be a way (if it works) to make other
duration based(long!) skills work much better.A good
spell would be Blaze since it gets a really long
duration.I think if i can confirm this ill build
a Blaze Sorceress and maybe buy some cheap level up
facets for now.

How would you do this? Cast Blaze, then switch to a weapon with fire damage?

"Plain" Blaze with Fire Mastery works fine throughout NM, by the way.
It's also very strong in normal. Very easy leveling. Hell is still a
problem that I have not found a solution for yet, though. For
solo-playing, that is.

Nope:

cast blaze with a +6 blaze +6 fire mastery staff then weapon switch to a
+30% fire damage -30% fire resistance cristal sword / +20% fire damage /
-20% fire resistance tower shield.

the +6 blaze/+6 fire mastery will stay for the duration of the spell and
the -50% enemy resistance will apply too.

Blaze is basically a three-elementalist skill. It works wonders with
charged bolt, blizzard and a holy freeze merc for example. The main
tactic is to:

1) let the merc tank the monsters while you create a massive overlayed
patch of fire
2) teleport to a spot where you can be sure all monsters will gather
onto your massive fire patch (about 20K damage per second) while the
merc tanks them

You don't even need to max fire mastery for this skill if you go
three-elementalist, only the duration is of importance.

It is viable solo, with a killing speed comparable to that of a level 70
skellimancer in hell.
