web cams not showing video on Windows 10.

I recently started having trouble with my webcam not being detected by software such as Skype, OBS, etc. So I purchased a second webcam and it's the same situation, I go to use video and it does not show video in the software.

I un-installed the camera, updated all the drivers, and nothing seems to be working. The devices are being recognized correctly in device manager (USB 2.0 Webcam, Creative LIVE HD Cam).

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? The only thing I haven't done is do a system restore and the only reason I am holding off on it is because I have not set up a restore point, so I would have to manually back up everything.

Yeah I have noticed a lot of other people have the same issue, and I have 2 completely different web cams and neither of them are working. Basically get the same loop of "uninstall driver, reinstall driver, update driver, remove device, reinstall" etc, and nothing works and it's very frustrating.

who made the USB 2 webcam? its generic name made it hard to look for.

and it seems the only use for the camera that came with xbox on win 10 is the function on lock screen where you can open it with your face... so thats 1 less option for some.

It is from Docooler, I will post a link for it below. But yes it is a very generic clip webcam 12mp. It's brand new out the box too.

docooler don't even have that on their web site... http://www.docooler.com/Computer-Networking#Bluetooth & IrDA though to be fair, their web site looks pretty dead, no new items or specials. and all the pages on the computer networking thing have same 4 items. who wants an 8" TFT when you can buy 28 " LCD now.

I would watch video reviews of web cams and find one that works for sure on win 10 before buying another one.

Yeah I know, I've looked at the website a few times and it is very dead. However, my other Creative LIVE webcam works on my laptop so it's definitely not the cameras or drivers there (since they're using the same drivers and OS). I'm going to also test out the generic one I purchased as well.

so laptop is on win 10 and they do work??

perhaps look on your motherboard makers web site and see if any new drivers there... then run a program like driver booster and see if you missing anything else. If it works on laptop and not pc, its just odd.

Yup, I used OBS (streaming) and Skype with no issues and it's also running Windows 10. I'll look up the motherboard driver now, and I'll check out that driver booster as well. But yeah, generally I can fix any issue on either my desktop or laptop, especially something stupid like this, but this is just weird...

Were they both upgrades? I mean, were they both on a previous version of windows? i suspect laptop just has different drivers or that 1 little difference that lets camera work fine

Like I said, check drivers as it could be USB, chipset, anything really...

They were both upgraded from Win7 (via free Win10 update). I'm running 4 updates right now, none of them specifically say anything about the webcams but one does have "sound, video, and games" .
