Hi,
I'm looking for some webcam software that can capture frames and save them
to a jpg that I can ftp to my ftp server.
I'm currently using webcam2000 which is open source which works quite well,
but it has its own web server which I'd prefer not to have since I'm hosting
my own web server which I'd like to use. I don't need an FTP upload piece of
code, just something that takes a frame every couple of seconds and saves it
to disk.
Anyone have any ideas? Is there any software that comes free because it's
bundled with a webcam?

Best Rgds

If you use webcam2000, you may want to check out my test page
below. Of particular interest is the popout setup. Stop the video
feed on the main page then click on the popout. I've got it setup
to switch between four cams I'm running. If you run your own
server full time, then the geocities dropdown isn't a pest (or
just close it on the upper right). FTP burns up bandwidth weather
anybody is watching or not.

Thanx for the reply, but bandwidth is not an issue as I host my own servers
so the FTP upload would be on the LAN.
Still looking for the right software.

Well I've found camcommander - works quite well but I'd like a refresh rate
of less than 10 secs - still its shareware and will do for now until
something better turns up - still looking....

You can try TrackerCam Software. It's a free download from

http://www.trackercam.com

There is a UserGuide here:

http://www.pantiltcam.com/TCamWeb/UserGuide/

The software can save series of jpgs at small intervals to your hard
drive. It also has a playback tool.

http://www.hilo.dk/programming.asp?topic=pryme

I use this to take framegrabs from my vidcap device... I created all of
the images on www.squirtman.com with that app. Er, captured them, that
is... just set Pryme up to grab a frame every 2 seconds, then I played a
6 hour tape of Squirtman shows until I grabbed a bunch of images I could
choose from.

Good luck.

might look at homewatcher.com
it's a little complicated on figuring out the settings but once you figure
out his lingo, it should do you well.
use it here because its free and low resource use.
