Webcam keeps disconnecting after ~1/2 mins

Hey guys,

I've got a Logitech C270 webcam hooked up to my PC but having a lot of issues with it. The webcam shows up in the logitech capture software for about 1-2 mins and then freezes and discconects. I've had a look in the Device Manager and it appears to keep disconnecting and reconnecting. I have all the latest drivers for it and the only other USB devices connected are the mouse and keyboard. I've also checked to see if my Anti Virus software is blocking it but that doesn't seem to be the issue either. Run out of ideas and would really appreciate the help!

which motherboard are you using?
or brand and model of the pre-built PC

drivers for chipset and USB controller are installed?

do you use front or rear USB ports? USB2.0 or USB3.0 ports?
all USB ports have this problem?

check the webcam with another PC/laptop

I have a MSI Z170-A Pro Motherboard. All drivers are up to date.

I have tried both USB 3.0 and 2.0 with the same result.

Have tried it on my girlfriends mac and seems to work fine.

which power supply are you using?

Tried Intel Driver utility and no luck there.

I'm using a 500W power supply

What do you mean restard windows?

click on the windows start icon, don´t shutdown, just restart windows, so it can freshly load all processes

Which 500W power supply is it? brand and model please

update the BIOS inside BIOS via M-Flash (download the BIOS from MSI.com and unzip the BIOS to an usb flash drive before)

Restart unfortunately did not solve the issue.

I was mistaken, it is a HP 460W power supply.

Did the M-Flash BIOS update and that also unfortunately did not solve the problem.

I should also probably mention that initially i had no problems with the webcam. I started using it whilst streaming with OBS Studio and thereafter the problem arose. Now it contines to happen whilst using the logitech capture app as well.

OK, tried it again on my girlfriends mac and the problem also happens on that computer, it just takes longer for it to happen. So I guess the webcam itself is faulty, will purchase a new one. Thanks for all your help.
