Webcam not working

My dell inspiron laptop webcam not working... Uninstalled and reinstalled the driver software. It is getting switched on when I test my webcam, but the image is not coming up. What could be the issue?

Do you have multiple programs trying to use the webcam at the same time? If you do, only the first one may work, "grabbing" the device and preventing other programs from seeing it. For example, if I use one of the Logitech applications with mine, Skype can't use it at the same time.
Check for this, making sure that only one program is trying to use your web cam.

If you're using Windows 10, then the problem is that Microsoft has taken it over and is recording everything you do so that they can improve the Widows 10 experience.
