Hello

I'm using WebcamXP PRO v2.14.362 BETA with a logitech webcam. It works
fine.

My webcam is able up to 640x480 definition.

In WebcamXP settings (default 320x240), input and output formats are
set to 640x480. It is OK.

But saving of WebcamXP settings only saves output format. It does not
save input format.

When starting again webcamXP, I obtain output OK at 640, as saved, but
input remains at 320. I must change it again.

I obtain 640 pictures with "big" pixels corrsponding to 320 !

Logitech software saves 640 definition but it has no effect on
WebcamXP.

Someone knows this problem ? What solution ?

Thank you for your replies.

You need to see if there is a way to set the default startup
capture resolution of the logitech capture driver. Most webcam
software just calls the webcam driver and accepts what it
supplies. Look and see if the logitech software has a way to
change the default settings for the cam.

Thanks for your reply.
Logitech software is positioned on 640, but WebcamXP stays on 320.

I downloaded trial version of "Biromsoft Webcam", and it works fine at
640 if I say 640.
And my CPU is less overloaded than with WebcamXP.

So I'm going to purchase a license for this software.

Thank you very much.

I've got a simple free webcam setup below that might be of
interest. It doesn't do motion detection, but You should be able
to serve up what ever size pix the logitech drivers support. It
uses a java pull brouser approach, which allows for capturing pix
with time stamps ans such. The bottom link is a demo page with
another link to a popup setup for multiple cams. If you run your
own webserver like apache, you don't have to deal with the
geocities popups (but geocities is free and has the page sources
when my computer is down).

I've tried webcam2000, from the first link above. It works very fine,
with the good definition 640x480. And it is free !

WEb server is not able to generate continuous stream, but 1 image per
second is correct. Continuous stream perhaps would not be better.

Thanks again.

A 640x480 jpg pix at 60% compression is ~40KB or ~320kb in size.
In theory, to get even 1fps you would need 320kb/s upload
bandwidth, which most people don't have. There are other
compression schemes that give faster frame rates, but pix quality
usually suffers. MS media encoder might give faster frame rates,
but there is some delay in the action and a pretty good computer
is needed from what I hear. I'm working on a simple way to mate
the webcam2000 setup with a homemade analog cam switcher.

Hello

Finally I returned to Biromsoft Webcam because in the same mode as
webcam2000 (1 frame per second), webcam2000 clears the screen between
each frame, and Biromsoft doesn't clears the screen.

Biromsoft is more pleasant for the user. Pictures changes without clear
screens between pictures.

Best regards.
