I'm wondering why my 120gb OCZ AGT3-25SAT3-120G C: hard drive only scores 5.9 on windows experience index. I think it should probably be capable of scoring 7.9 on WEI. I have slower non ssd hard drives installed on D: and F:. The driver is old (6/21/2006). I can't seem to find the firmware version for the SSD drive but there is one available from OCZ website. It only has 7.73GB of 120GB free space left.

If it doesn't have the most recent firmware, would upgrading the firmware help the WEI?
Or maybe windows scores it lower with other non-ssd hard drives installed?
The driver is from 2006, but windows says it is the most recent one.
Or maybe I have some setting set incorrectly?

Any suggestions how to improve my SSD's WEI?

Thanks!

Solution
you will may not get the 7.9 but you should come close. My OCZ Vertex 3 pulls a 7.7 and that is faster than the Agility 3.

did you wipe the old scores and re-run the assessment?

also did you make sure you set the Sata Controller to AHCI in the BIOS?

Solution
Run the AS SSD benchmark.
In the top left you should see in green two things which should be OK:
iaStorr
and the offset alignment for 4k boundaries.

I think I read somewhere the AMD sata chipset implementation is not as efficient as the intel version.
That could be the difference.

Mostly, do not worry. Random read/write speeds are what counts, not sequential performance

WEI is a very poor measure of SSD performance. I don't know why anyone bothers using it.

Make sure the firmware is up to date, ditto your mbd SATA driver.

The Agility3 was never the quickest of SSDs though. Which I could comment more precisely on
what to expect, but alas it's one of the few OCZ SATA3 models I've not yet obtained.

For a more complete & accurate comparison, try using AS-SSD, CDM and HDTach, compare to
results given in reviews, etc. If it's of any use, I have these and ATTO results for OCZ models
including the Vertex2E, Vertex3, Vertex3 MAX IOPs, Vertex4, Vector and Vector 150, plus some
other brands (Samsung, SanDisk, Crucial, Corsair, etc.) An Agility3 ought to be somewhere below
a Vertex3.

Ian.

PS. It could also be a mbd controller limitation, but atm I'm less familiar with AMD chipsets in this regard.

I usually use ATTO and IOmeter for comparing results to benchmarks given in reviews because those are the most common used programs that sites use to measure the speed of the SSD's. But hey If the other mentioned benchmarks work good why not use them, right. 😉 Either way eventually once the WEI re-runs the assessment the scores should jump into the mid to high 7's. (as long as the system is using the SSD as the boot drive) This score is really meaningless but is nice for a quick reference if you made a major change to be sure it was an major improvement or not. As mentioned this is not a benchmark and is not included in any if the following OS's released.

Thank you all for your prompt replies. I checked the BIOS setting and it was set for IDE. I changed it to AHCI and RAID but then it wouldn't boot...so I googled and found a microsoft fix that loads a msahci driver at startup, after that I was able to boot up while the BIOS was set to AHCI. Then I ran the WEI again and now it shows the ssd at 7.6, and bumped up the overall to 7.4. I suppose I could overclock my CPU and maybe get the overall up to 7.6 but I doubt I'll try that. Thanks again for the help.
