So I have this really really weird issue. I have these really old speakers that are connected to my PC/audio port. So when nothing is playing I usually notice that weird muffled sounds are coming out of my speakers. Sometimes I hear them non stop but sometimes they quickly go away.

I know a lot of you might think I'm messing around or that I'm going crazy but I'm actually legit.

Here is the audio file that I've recorded with my phone. The hissing sound coming from my speakers is because I was moving the cable around so I could hear the voices as clear as I can.

Mods can check that the link above is a not a virus or anything like that I just want to get this thing solved.

Just had this exact same thing going on with my speakers. I have an old all-in-one stereo system, old enough that it has dual tape decks and a record player on top of it. I have the volume set about 5 or 6 clicks from the highest setting on my head unit, so that I can just control the volume entirely from the PC. I started having the same issue as you, I was hearing weird voices coming from my stereo. I maxed out the volume, and I could just barely make out the sound of a weather or traffic report, and realized it was picking up a radio station.

My fix was to switch over to tuner mode, find a station coming in bad enough that it is only emitting static, then switch back to CD mode (the input I had my pc plugged into). After that, I had...

That buzzing sounds like it's not grounded properly.

The buzzing was present because I was moving the cable around and so it produced a buzzing like sound. But yeah you could be right, still I don't know what are these weird sounds.

I only hear these voices when my speakers are turned on and connected to the computer so no I do not hear them when my headphones are plugged into my PC. The speakers MUST be connected to the computer for the voices to be heard. I do not live near a air port.

Just turned off my phone, put on the airplane mode and took it to the living room. Nothing has changed so far.

That is SSB (Single Side Band) modulation. The output transistor act as a diode, just like a crystal radio. You have a amateur radio operator neighbor, or a Citizen Band with an illegal amplifier nearby.

What Flying Head said is indeed possible, though you'd need to confirm. If you've kept your speakers a reasonable distance away from devices that may possibly affect them, and assuming you aren't just messing with us, there are a host of other reasons you may be having those issues. When did it start, what source is in use, how old is your pc, ugh... many questions more. Try moving them around a bit more maybe.

I have these speakers for nearly 10 years and I first noticed the voices 4 years ago on my old computer. Today I wanted to test if they still work and when I plugged them in 1 hour later I started hearing the mentioned sounds. Funny thing is that this started happening at 11 PM now its 3 AM and the voices can still be heard.

Short of using or borrowing an adequate EMF meter/detector... See if any of your neighbors are experiencing the same thing? First thing you should do is hook those speakers up to a different source, e.g. an old receiver with fm/am, tapedeck, phono, or even an old boombox. See if the results are able to be reproduced using a different source before anything else, thus removing a PC component as the likely cause. Would be curious to know how that goes.

Yes, but at that point you've also changed the speaker location, so there's two possibilities with that test.

After that, I had no more problems with voices coming over my speakers, and surprisingly, I had no issues with the static coming through the CD input either.
